⛈️⚠️ DAMAGING WINDS, HEAVY RAINFALL, ABNORMALLY HIGH TIDES, DAMAGING SURF and FLOOD WARNINGS: Northern Rivers and Border region ⛈️ ⚠️

💧 WHAT IS THE WEATHER DOING
Heavy rainfall is expected again early Monday. River Flooding is expected as a result with river levels expected to rise further from Monday and Tuesday. The heavy rainfall may lead to Flash Flooding.
🌬 DAMAGING WINDS
⚬ with winds averaging 60-70 km/h and gusts exceeding 90 km/h are possible along the coastal fringe north from about Yamba, possibly extending south to about Crescent Head on the Mid North Coast during the day.
🌬 HEAVY RAINFALL
⚬ is expected to return to the Northern Rivers and parts of the Mid North Coast during Monday morning. Rainfall rates could be locally enhanced in the far north with thunderstorms, leading to the possibility of very heavy rainfall and dangerous flash flooding. At this stage, the widespread heavy rainfall is expected to ease late Tuesday or early Wednesday, though thunderstorms may still produce localised heavy falls that may lead to flash flooding during Wednesday.
🌊 DAMAGING SURF
⚬ with waves exceeding 5 metres in the surf zone can be expected, extending south to Port Macquarie during the day, possibly leading to significant beach erosion.
🏝 ABNORMALLY HIGH TIDES
⚬ are expected along the coast north from about Ballina during this morning's high tide, which may lead to localised coastal inundation.
📍 Locations affected include: Tweed Heads, Byron Bay, Lismore, Grafton, Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie, Sawtell and Dorrigo.
🌊 FLOOD AREAS
💧Bellinger River: During Monday and Tuesday, minor to moderate flooding is possible along the Bellinger River at Thora and Bellingen.
💧Tweed River: Renewed minor to moderate flooding is possible along the Tweed River with the heavy rainfall forecast for Monday and Tuesday.
💧Brunswick River and Marshalls Creek: Minor flooding possible at Billinudgel and Mullumbimby on Monday
💧 Wilsons River: Moderate flooding is possible along the Wilsons River at Lismore. Minor flooding is likely at Lismore from midday Monday.
👉 WHAT YOU SHOULD DO
▪️ Be aware that flash flooding may occur
▪️ Stay out of rising water, seek refuge in the highest available place.
▪️ Move your car undercover
▪️ Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
The SES have reminded people to move livestock from low lying paddocks
🌊 SANDBAGS: at NSW SES Murwillumbah Unit HQ and opposite the Community Hall at Tumbulgum village.
