SHARK ALERT - TIME TO GET OUT OF THE WATER -
Surf lifesavers have cleared the water at Ballina after the Department of Primary Industries helicopter spotted as many as 60 bull sharks in the water off the tip of North Wall just after 8am TODAY. Ballina Shire Council says the beaches remain open at this stage as there has not been an incident, but the DPI is monitoring the situation and surf life savers are in the area letting beach goers know of the sharks' presence.
Data from a Surf Life Saving New South Wales (SLSNSW) drone trial has revealed January to be the most significant month for shark activity and the north coast to be the state's shark hotspot.
